Story added: 3rd July 2023
Every year, we strive to make the race as environmentally friendly as we possibly can, whilst still maintaining high standards of runner safety and enjoyment.
What are we doing?
LESS PAPER
Like last year, we’ve continued producing this magazine in digital form only. We’ve had great feedback from runners about the change, not to mention saved a lot of paper being used. We’ve also ensured there are no paper flyers in your post-race souvenir bags.
LEAD VEHICLE
Guiding our runners through our city streets this year will be an electric lead vehicle provided by race sponsor, Lotus.
PAPER CUPS
We’ve also made a change to our paper cups. Unlike last year’s paper cups, this year’s do not have to go through any complex process prior to being recycled – just chuck them into one of our many recycling bins and we’ll do the rest.
What can you do?
PARK N’ RIDE
Instead of driving into the city on race day, why not use one of the special park-and-ride services for the event?
Park n’ Ride services will be in operation from the Airport and Thickthorn sites, with a frequent service starting at 7am.
BERYL BIKES
If you live near the city centre, why notwarm up for your race by taking a Beryl bike to the start point? With bays dotted around the city, it’s an easy way for you to get to and from the race in an active and sustainable way.
CARPOOL
If you’re running with a friend, family member or colleague, why not save fuel, congestion and parking costs by arranging to travel into the city in the same car?
BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE
If you can bring your own water bottle or pack, rather than use the cups on our water stations, then please do! Every cup we don’t use this year, will be one less cup we need to order next year!
