CSF announces entry process for Run Norwich 2015

Norwich City’s Community Sports Foundation (CSF) has officially announced the entry process for Run Norwich – a 10km road race through the city centre this summer.

The event has been launched in association with BT MyDonate, and will see runners take to the city’s streets on Sunday August 30 for a memorable running event and day out.

Run Norwich’s route includes some of the city’s most celebrated landmarks, including Norwich Castle, Norwich Cathedral, Norwich City Football Club and the attractive Dragon Hall on King Street.

Organisers CSF expect demand to be high for a place; in the 48 hours following the date announcement in March, over 2000 people had registered their interest in taking part, through the event’s official website.

Entries can be made online from 7:00am on Friday May 15, 2015 with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis in accordance with the event’s race rules.

As well as attracting visitors to the city and increasing participation in running, CSF is aiming to raise money through Run Norwich for its sports programmes for disabled and disadvantaged people in the community, as well as supporting three other local causes, which have also been unveiled.

It is hoped that runners who wish to fundraise will choose one of these official charities: CSF, Norfolk Accident Rescue Service, Age UK Norwich, and Nelson’s Journey.

CSF Chief Executive Officer Ian Thornton said:

“It’s important to us that we not only support the community through our own work, but also that we as a football club offer a helping hand to some local causes that may not get the exposure that they deserve otherwise.

“Run Norwich will be a terrific event for the city, but also a way in which we can reach out to the community.

“We’re delighted to have some great sponsors on board, including BT MyDonate, Aston Shaw Chartered Accountants, Riverside Leisure Centre, and Macron Store Norwich. Their support is essential and has helped to make Run Norwich a reality.”
