Acts include Norwich Rock Choir and Norwich Samba

Norwich Rock Choir and Norwich Samba are the first two entertainment acts to be confirmed for Run Norwich 2016.

Both groups have experience of performing at local and national events and will provide the soundtrack to runners and spectators at this year’s event.

Rock Choir is the UK’s largest and most popular contemporary choir, with in excess of 24,000 members in over 320 local communities nationwide.

Since its very beginning, Rock Choir has supported hundreds of local communities and helped raise millions of pounds for local and national charities through performances and events. They will perform opposite the Erpingham Gate by Norwich Cathedral during the run, before relocating to the Race Village in Chapelfield Gardens to add to the post-race atmosphere.

Local Rock Choir leader Jessica Allen said:

“We are grateful and proud to sing at such an awesome event which is supporting great local charities. Norfolk and Suffolk Rock Choir are joining forces for the event and we will sing lots of upbeat, fun songs to encourage the racers!”

Norwich Samba were established almost 15 years ago and have over 30 members currently. The group use a range of percussion instruments that produce the exciting sound of the Rio Carnival with a UK twist. They will lead off the race as well as performing in Chapelfield Gardens.

The two Norfolk-based groups will follow in the footsteps of Smoke House Blue, a New Orleans-style marching jazz band and sPANgle, a lively steel-pan drum group, who were among some of the musical acts that performed at the inaugural race in 2015.

Also on the bill last year was local Rockabilly band Lovin’ Handful, street dance troupe Aspire Dance and BBC Introducing act Lobster.
